My interest in photography began at age 10 with the gift of a Kodak Instamatic camera from my parents. Later on, as a teenager growing up in Central Florida, my childhood friend loaned me her Pentax 35mm and provided lessons on settings, techniques and composition, plus a constant reminder to “look for beauty in the ordinary.”
As a result of severe nearsightedness which led to detached retinas in both eyes and required surgery, I am thankful to God for providing eye surgeons who saved my eyesight. In my photography work, I have adapted to my vision challenges by using creative painterly techniques during the post-editing process.
An avid interest in history and popular trends inspires my photography of classic vehicles, vintage objects and old structures. My artistic eye was further enhanced by a 20-year-career in the manufacturing industry, enabling me to identify unique automotive and architectural design characteristics which can still be glimpsed despite the ravages of time, nature and weather elements.
Capturing God’s hand in nature is also one of my greatest joys, and I love to pair Bible verses with my images.
I am honored and humbled to receive awards for my images which have been selected for exhibition in galleries, municipal buildings, the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts, prestigious art shows and purchased by collectors. Feature articles about my work are published in Growing Bolder Magazine and Guideposts Magazine (August/September 2022 edition).
